I have an immaculate "Black Russian" Irony Scuba 200 Chrono (year 2000). Unfortunately, the 1/10 second hand seems to have stopped working entirely :( . I can't recalibrate it, or anything. Does anybody have any idea whether this can be fixed? If so, how? Many thanks!

Why don't you try bringing it to the shop that you bought it from? Maybe they can tell you where you can get it fixed if it can still be fixed.

I contacted Swatch UK customer services who told me to send it to them for a free of charge repair. "Brilliant!" I thought. They simply returned it to me immediately, saying that this model can't be repaired and that my watch was too old to be replaced under warranty. As I had already told them the model and age of the watch in my original enquiry, I was pretty disappointed by this response. What a total waste of my time and money. Shame on you, Swatch UK! :(

Hi EyeRonKnee,

there is no shame for swatch uk in this case, I think.

As you told the watch is from 2000. The warrenty of a swatch is 2 years. So if the watch was bought in the last 2 years, the dealer have to give you a warrenty if the model is too old. If you bought the watch 9 years ago, it is sure that there is no warrenty anymore.

In fact swatch is doing a very good warrenty service, because they give you 2 years international warrenty and if they can help after that time, they do it also (with charging the repair maybe). Some other brands have just 1 year warrenty!

The problem in your case is that this model isn't repairable. So maybe the person on the phone get something wrong, if you told him/her the model and year when you bought it. Maybe you just told them the year of production and not when you bought it?

But maybe it was just a mistake of the person on the phone, but I'm sure they don't do this to make you angry!

cheers

Well, I contacted Swatch UK customer services by email (not phone) and I gave them the full model name, number and year, and a description of the problem. That should have been enough information for them to tell me that the watch cannot be repaired, and to ask me when I purchased it. I would have told them that I puchased it more than 2 years ago, and that would have been the end of the matter. So, on this occasion, I don't think that I got good service from Swatch UK. Sorry.

Hi EyeRonKnee,

I'm pretty sure they thought it was bought within the last 2 years when they offered you to send it to them. Why they should offer you a free repair when it is out of warrenty - no comany in the world would do this.

But I also can understand that you are not happy with that.

cheers

Dear Tognire9,

The watch needs to be calibrated and here you can see how you need to do that:
