1 Welcome

Welcome to the Squiggly Newsletter of March 28, 2008.

The Easterbunny went home. Where ever that is... Rumours are that the Easterbunny is a neighbour of Santa. Last Monday was a holiday here at Squiggly, so this was a pretty short week. Marcel and Martina photographed quite a few watches. Rob finished the translations for the Bijoux in French and Jeroen and Elske have checked all the Popswatch straps. Jasmin was buried in Bijoux and we hope to find her next Monday.. :-)

This week we got one new arrival. An update of the Spring Summer collection 2008. More in this newsletter about this super stylish Irony Lady Square.

3 SS2008 New Collection Update

YUS114G NATA PURA

Pure white elegance in steel. The broad steel bracelet of this superbly stylish Irony Lady Square features rigorously drawn steel links with white enamel inlays. The polished steel square case takes up the stylish steel and white design with a large white enamel frame around the glossy white dial. In the absence of numerals and indices, diminutive reflective metal hour and minute hands and a delicate metal seconds hand mark the time.

4 Swatch memory lane

On March 1, 1983 the first Swatch watch officially went for sale. The sales started with a launch in Zürich. After 25 years we're still enjoying the fun, elegance and design of our favorite Swatch watches.

Squiggly is going to take you for a walk on Memory Lane. A Street of Swatch watches that can be considered a Swatch Memory. Every week a member of the Swatch-Clopedia forum has the opportunity to take out five watches of this list, and enter 5 new ones.

Here is Scuba's choice of this weeks Memory Lane:

Beneath you can find the selection and motivation Scuba made:

GZ115 - Year: 1990   GK232 - Year: 1996   GK721 - Year: 1997   GB186 - Year: 1998   GZ184 - Year: 2003

Many collectors love the Jelly Fish watches, and I feel that this is one of the best because of the golden movement.

I find this watch very beautiful, and it is one of my favourite display pieces.

Golden Days is a stylish watch to wear, and goes well in most situations.

Although I like Tortuga, and have this piece on display Arnould Fashions is a favourite both to display and to wear. The ever-changing face always makes me (and others) smile.

Another great Swatch. I like both of the Dada Swatches, but sadly the limitation of Gent and Lady models only means that I cannot choose Dadazüri.

Take a walk on Memory Lane here.

Lorenzo Piemonti
"Il Volo"

Lorenzo Piemonti, painter and sculptor, born in 1935 in Carate Brianza (Milan ), where he currently lives, gained attention of national and international press thanks to his plastic results, which subtract the matrix out of numbers and then progressively developes them into threedimensional multiple varieties of a numeric sequence.
The visual art was not alien to Piemonti, however, from the mid- sixties, he has has moved on a path where mental discipline and upright logic, together in a synthesis create a strong visual result.
After a decade in central Switzerland, in contact with the leaders of "Swiss Concretism", he has developed his talent in a highly individualized direction.
Piemonti works can also be found in the museums of different cities in Italy and abroad.

The 11th Swatch Bourse will take place at the World Museum (near Milano, Italy) on MAY the 4th.  A special packaging (limited to 57 pcs, numbered) will be released to commemorate the event.

SC 2008 KiKa Racing for Charity

Kika is a charity for children with cancer. Kika is raising funds to support seven children hospitals in Holland. Squiggly has made an agreement with Racing For Charity that came with the original idea for this watch, to sell the watch on our web site. Squiggly will make no profit at all from the watch and we will sell the watch for the official retail price of Euro 60.00 (incl 19% VAT). Bad news is that the watch has not yet been produced and it will take another two weeks to arrive. BUT... you can put it on your wish list, so e know how many watches we will approximately need to buy...
