Swatch .beat watches display regular time in units of seconds, minutes and hours, but also in ‘beats’. Each beat is one thousandth part of a solar day and lasts 1 minute and 26.4 seconds. There are no time zones, beats are based on the scale of Biel (place of the Swatch headquarters) Meantime, which is equivalent to Central European Time (CET). The beat was devised as a means to facilitate cross-continent gaming, hence the name Swatch Internet Time. Although the .beat watches are no longer in production, Swatch Internet Time is still a function on the Touch Zero Two watches.
